Tritton Ax 180 Review

I decided to do a review of my new Headset for the PS3 and PC. (The Tritton AX 180′s) Tritton is a main name in the upper class gaming headsets, and have many different qualities depending on how much money you have to work with. For me I needed a great pair of headphones, and a decent mic for stuff like chat and possible future pod casting.
Lets get into the Pros.
Sound: With out a doubt these are the best quality headset I have ever put on my ears. The sound is great even though its not 5.1 it’s got to be the best stereo sound out there. That said the mic also does great when its hooked to the PS3 because it really lets you know through base and sound where people are coming from. In modern Warfare 2 I can now truly get what people mean when they say they can here foot steps coming in a certain direction. In addition to the noise they put out they also block outside noise really well.
How they Feel : Although most times bigger headsets hurt my ears for long periods of time these sit on your head a lot easier because of the tilt of the head peace and the formed shape for your ears. Although these will not be as comfortable as ear buds they are snug and relaxed fitting.
The Mic Quality: The mic is so crystal clear on the PS3 People have asked me twice what kind of headset I had in one sitting of MW2. While most headsets come with a mic built onto the headset Trittons all have a great detaching feature if you only want headphones. Major plus when you don’t feel like chatting or when your not wanting a piece of plastic in your face while your using them as headphones.
Build Quality: The Tritton Ax 180′s truly feel like something you would find in an actual recording studio. They are Heavy without being to heavy they are flexible without feeling like cheap plastic. Even the rap around piece for the top of your head has that foam leather feel.
Now some Cons.
COST: Tritton’s are top of the line when it comes to gaming headsets, but with that comes a sturdy price. If you look for the best price for these you can find them for $69.99. With that said in todays economy money can be tight so I can see this as a possible con for some people.
Final thoughts
This Headset is great and so far has been everything I was hoping it would be. With all this taken into consideration for the price Id give the Tritton AX 180′S a 9 out a 10. I’m leaving a little room for the simple fact I haven’t really had a ton of headset’s, and with Omnilaw saying only great things about the Turtle Beach P21′s I can’t be sure if there the best. What I will say though if you are interested in this headset you wont be disappointed.

Nice article.
Hmm, Interesting. $69.99 really isn’t that bad considering I payed $50 for my Sony BT headset. They are wired tho right? How long is that wire?
I have the Tritton AX Pro. This is true surround. More $$$, but worth it IMHO. There is a newer model, AX 720, which is cheaper I think. I do not know how it is different otherwise.
Hush404: yep there wired the cord is roughly 15 feet but it has an extention of another 5. Me I personally don’t see why some one would sit 20 feet away from a tv while trying to play a game but hey that’s just me. If you want a high quality set for gaming I’d recomend these for sure.
I may just look into it. 15′ is more than adequate (as I only sit about 7′ away from my tv) and I’ve been looking for something to replace than uncomfortable little nub of a BT headset from Sony.
@t9mike – I looked it up and the Pro is 5.1 but the AX 720 is still just stereo.
