KZ3 losing its weight????
According to July 2010 edition of Official Playstation Magazine, it seems that Killzone 3 controls will be adapted to appeal to the masses. Indeed, on page 91 of OPM a member of Guerrilla Games stated “I’m confident that when Killzone 3 comes out we’re going to have a set of controls that will appeal to the vast majority of audiences” The heavy sensation of Killzone 2 is absoloutely gone; instead this feels much closer to standard run-and-gun responsiveness.” Whether this move will pay off or not remains to be seen. One thing that is certain is that the heaviness of Killzone gave it a certain uniqueness that Guerrilla Games will have to compensate in other ways.

Well crap
Please…please….GG…don’t give me “Modern Noobfare” controls!!!!
No need to worry, I’ve read in other interviews that they’re keeping it the way it was. As if GG would really lighten things up.
Truth be told…. removing the heaviness of the controls will do them more good than bad simply because a good chunk of FPS fans (pretty much the COD crowd which accounts for 10M+ gamers) felt that the heaviness was an acquired taste they either 1) were not willing to get accustomed to or 2) willing to tolerate or 3) actually loved. Guerrilla Games and Sony are well aware that keeping the heaviness of the controls will most likely turn off those in the (1) or (2) category of people and therefore it only makes sense they remove the heaviness or at least make it an option that is off by default.
The reality of the situation is that most people who love the heaviness of Killzone will get Killzone 3 regardless of whether that aspect of the controls is removed or included. The same cannot be said about the others (categories 1 & 2). As much as the heaviness gives a certain uniqueness to Killzone it is a double -edged sword that does not work in GG or Sony’s favor if you ask me. They should focus on tweaking other elements of gameplay to further distinguish it from other shooters.
Is it wrong of me to NOT want every one of those 10M+ whining asshats jumping on board with killzone3 and thus sending a massive statement to sony/gg that yeah all they really wanted was COD with KZ paint….
IMO, gaming in this generation has taken a slide away from uniqueness. It seems like every hit these days needs cater to a mass of gamers who have no patience to learn any system outside of what they’ve played all along. Either it plays exactly like gameX or they don’t want anything to do with it.
Makes me sick.
Is it gonna be hard for the developers to put it as an option?
Well I really don’t mind trying the new run and gun controls myself. While I did like the heavy feel of the controls last game. The original controls of the first killzone where good to. I am personally looking forward to the change on a stand point of it giving more fans of FPS’s what they want giving the company Guerrilla more sales and more money. More money equals a better chance to see a Killzone 4 and 5. Hey after the Helghasts are wiped out maybe a new enemy is right around the corner. don don doooonnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I, myself, am a fan of the heavy controls. Id also be willing to bet that they make them both an option…however, with the 3D and revamped scheme, theyre going to need some space LoL
