Killzone 2- Back of the Box

It’s been a little while since we found out that Killzone 2 won’t have any form of installation process before playing it on your PS3. Looking at this newly released image of the back of the Killzone 2 box art, we spot a few other details. Such as, HOME support and DLC.

While not surprising since both were pretty much confirmed, it’s just nice to see it all in writing. :)

Killzone 2 Falls Victim To Hater-aide

It would seem that no high profile videogame is immune to hate. And such is the case for Killzone 2. Like many of the past triple A titles to hit any console for the past few months, there are the haters who sign up to bring down the overall user score of a game.

At metacritic.com, this very thing has happened, as Killzone 2 now has a user score of 6.3. Obviously not as important as reviews done by real gaming sites, it’s still amusing yet distressing to see such things happen when people have nothing better to do.

It could be worse, LittleBigPlanet did have a below 5 user score at one point. Take that for what it’s worth.

OPM (Dutch) Scans and Final Verdict

“Guerrilla wants to show that it nothing to hide and is proud of its work. And on that it is entitled all to. What we have played so far, we can easily say Killzone 2 is one of the best shooters of our time.”

OPM Awards Killzone 2 a 5 out of 5

The first review for Killzone 2 has arrived 2 months early. We got the news from the TeamXbox forums(yes, you read correctly.) that the Official PlayStation Magazine which should arrive in the hands of subscribers any day now, has scored Killzone 2 a 5/5. Here are some excerpts taken from the review:

“The buddies alongside you in each battle have been expertly tuned to provide just enough cover and support to actively get your back on occasions, while never making it feel like they could achieve every objective alone.”

“…the believability and consistency are hallmarks of the Killzone 2 experience. None of the circumstances, weapons you find, locations you visit, or frankly any of the details in the world feel arbitrary. The world is consistently realized in its unappealing flavor.”

“…filled with moments that can handily be described as inspiring awe”

- bots in offline multiplayer “perform pretty well”

“Without a doubt Killzone fans, action, and shooter fans of any stripe will instantly tag this sequel as a powerful contender for the best game of 2009″

From reading through some of the comments at the forums, it’s good to see that many fans of GAMING are looking forward to Killzone 2. ;)

Killzone 2 Recording Sessions

Just like most people during this holiday season, we’re sure that Guerrilla Games is taking a well deserved rest. We’re sure that not just everyone can go into hibernation as we get closer to the February launch date of Killzone 2.

Music4games.net reports on the recording sessions of Killzone 2 at the world famous, Abbey Road Recording Studios, which took place during November 13-14,`08.

During their visit, they had a chance to interview Joris De Man, Lead Composer on not only Killzone 2, but the previous Killzone projects as well. During Killzone 1, Joris worked with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. This time around he’s working with the Nimrod Symphony Orchestra.

M4G: Will the ‘Helghast Theme’ be incorporated into the Killzone 2 score?
Joris de Man: It was the main menu music and the signature theme of Killzone 1, and I wanted to retain that. I took the same theme, but instilled a new variation on it, maintaining the core elements, such as the pounding rhythm that delighted people in the first place…

Also interviewed by Music4games.net were Guerrilla Games Sound Director, Mario Lavin and Sound Designer, Lucas van Tol.

Killzone 2 Vs. Killzone 1: Gameplay Retrospective

Just an interesting article to bring about, and with all the anticipation for Killzone 2, I found this refreshing. Enjoy! :

- Cinemablend.com, William Usher 2008-12-26

Guerrilla Games is still hard at work in finishing up the latest triple-A shooter for the PS3, KillZone 2. The game is due out in February of 2009. But considering that KZ2 is so close to its release and it has built up such a huge following, we thought it would be interesting to give gamers a little look back on what KillZone was, and a look at what KillZone 2 will be.

The Weekly Battle Bout here at Blend Games is returning with this special comparison. You get to see the original KillZone in action, as well as KillZone 2, and we’ll break down some of the obvious changes you can expect when the game releases in two months.

The original KillZone was actually a solid game, despite being an average shooter. As you’ll see in the trailer below, much of the highlights of the original KillZone has carried over into KillZone 2. Those nicely modeled guns from the original have been given a retouch and now look freaking awesome in the sequel. KZ2 also features character models that have immeasurable amounts of detail and the environments are even darker and more science-fiction laden than the original.

Finally, the North American cover art for Killzone 2 has been revealed and it’s looking good. About a month ago the European box art was revealed and while slightly different both feature the face mask of the ominous Helghast grunt.

Below to the left is the North American cover and to the right the European art. Which one do you all prefer?

Anyhow, Merry Christmas all! :)

The Helghast Leech Pod

Killzone.com has updated with a new article on the “Helghast Leech Pods”

Archived intelligence reports (reference record #: ISIR449-A3-1) show that slightly over a year ago, HGH troops have started assembling engines to be mounted on redesigned Mining Tunnelers that would give them the capability of entering space vessels from a ground controlled platform. The reports state that we are uncertain how many of these platforms are completed and how many of these vessels have been produced up to present day. Attached satellite imagery discloses multiple possible production facilities.

The ISA Cruiser

Have you all ever wondered how those creepy looking ISA Cruisers hovering over Helghan stay afloat? Thanks to the recent update at Killzone.com, you will now know the answers to your ISA Cruiser questions.

Like swords hanging over the head of the Helghast Empire...

Like swords hanging over the head of the Helghast Empire...

Like swords hanging over the head of the Helghast Empire, the ISA Cruisers hover ominously in the skies over Pyrrhus. Awe-inspiring and fearsome to behold, these towering hulks carry enough firepower to level the city several times over. Their presence sends an unmistakable message to the enemy below: the end is near for Scolar Visari’s reign of terror.

Measuring 550 meters in height, each ISA Cruiser can hold a complement of 7,600, including 5,000 soldiers, 600 pilots, 1800 support crew and 200 officers. In addition, it can store up to 160 Intruder-type landing craft and 30,000 metric tons of ammunition for the ship’s main defense cannons. Designing and constructing the Cruiser was a massive undertaking for the ISA engineers – and for our developers, as well.
